Theo Fabian Becker was born and educated on the East Coast. Her paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries throughout the United States and abroad, and are included in private and corporate collections worldwide. She is an adjunct member of the Fine Arts faculty at the local college, where she now lives, in the Napa Valley of California.
Fabian Becker earned a BFA degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, studied at Sonoma State University and received an MA in Studio Art from New York University.
Her work stems from the figurative and abstract traditions, continuing a career-long interest in the human form as it reveals the strength and vulnerability of the human psyche. She strives to delineate the multiple veils of reality and illusion that exist between human beings: Between one’s own perception of an object or event—and the different reality perceived others.
Mixed mediums work to enhance these concepts in her 2- and 3-dimentional work: paintings, collage, photographs, ceremonial objects, altars and shrines. She uses paint, photography, found objects, gold and metal leaf, paper, fabric and canvas, etc. Elements of chance and accident inform this work and shape the reality and meaning of each piece as it emerges into its final form.
